Happy 4th!

July 1, 2026

Happy Birthday, America! This Saturday, July 4, 2026, we will celebrate your 250th birthday.

Our little town of Cambridge is all decked out in red, white, and blue just for the occasion. The day will start at 8:00 a.m. with a free breakfast in the park, put on by the City of Cambridge, and will end with a fireworks display at dusk.

It will be a day to celebrate our country, our freedom to live the way of life we choose, to worship in the manner of our beliefs, and to be thankful for the many blessings that are ours simply for having been born on this continent.

I hope that among the celebrations, we can pause for a moment of gratitude for the blessings we all share. Not the least of which is to live in a small town in Idaho called Cambridge.

On Wednesday, July 1, we are having our July 4th celebration a little early with barbecued pork ribs, compliments of S&A Catering. Ursula is making her famous potato salad and baked beans to go with the ribs, along with other delicious offerings. We are also starting a raffle for a $40 gift certificate from Gateway Pizza. Feel free to join us.

Then on Thursday evening, July 2nd, from 6 to 8:00 p.m., we are playing Bingo. Friday, July 3rd, we will be serving the quintessential meal of Hot dogs and French fries for dinner—a week of picnic-style meals.

Menu: Wednesday, July 8: Sweet and sour chicken, rice, green beans, wheat roll, salad, pears and Rice Krispy Treats. Friday, July 10: Taco Salad, corn chips, hamburger, lettuce, tomato, onions, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, black beans, pears, and dessert. Wednesday, July 15: Oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, wheat roll, coleslaw, corn, mandarin oranges and lemon zucchini bars.

Happy Birthday, America! Have a great weekend, everyone!
