I wasn’t at seniors’ yesterday because of a heart doctor’s appointment. I rescheduled it several times and felt it was a must-do thing. What a day to go! It snowed all day long!
After my appointment, I scheduled a time to visit my good friend Jo. I was getting nervous as the visit progressed, as the snow just kept falling. I wanted to get home before dark, so I left at 3:30, just when a barrage of big, wet snowflakes started falling.
There was a lot of slush on the highway, which made for slow going, and I debated whether to get gas before I left Weiser. I decided I could get home on half a tank. The further I got from Weiser, the slushier the roads became, and as I drove past the Mans Creek store, I noticed the traffic was backing up.
Well, you know what that means? Either someone slid off the road, or there was an accident. Sure enough, there were both. It took me two hours to get home from Fruitland. I can tell you it was a stressful trip. I hope you had a better day than I did.
As I write this article, it’s the first day of February. We are beginning our chair yoga classes again on Tuesday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m. The classes will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings of every week at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. You do not have to be a member of Seniors to join us, and it’s free. All you have to do is show up at the appointed time wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. The class is approximately 30 minutes long. I hope to see you there.
We have a Bingo game on Thursday evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Everyone, kids included, is welcome! The winners of each game receive prizes. There is a blackout game that splits the pot between the Center and the winner. (Children cannot play the blackout game, as the winner receives a cash prize) Join us for an evening of fun.
I should have called this “Fun February” since we are doing many fun things this month. On Thursday, February 13, from 4 until 7:00 p.m., we are having a Valentine’s Bake sale. Why buy a stale box of candy when you can get freshly made goodies for your sweetheart? Please stop by the senior center between 4 and 7 to see what we have to offer. It’s going to be yummy!
Menu: Friday, February 7: Chicken Enchilada Casserole, Refried beans, Garden Salad, Peaches and Dessert; Wednesday, February 12: Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Beets, Salad, Mixed Fruit, and Wickey-Wacky Cake; Friday, February 14: Chili con Carne, Cornbread, Salad, Mixed Fruit, and Dessert.
Until next time, stay healthy and happy; a lot of crud is going around.
