Shopping Trip July 16, Foot Clinic July 27

Things are pretty slow around here as we near the end of the second week of July. July started off with a bang this year, the 250th anniversary of our Independence from Great Britain. We had a free Community breakfast put on by the City of Cambridge, and we also had Fireworks that night. Some of us went to Midvale for their barbecue and parade, while others went North to council for the Porcupine races and log sawing contest. But we came home just in time for the fireworks.

We are in a holding pattern waiting for news of our grant. They are doing an environmental study, and we are just waiting for the results. Once we pass that, then the city will open it up for bids.

While we wait, we continue to fund raise because we still have bills to pay. Right now, we are raffling off a $40 gift certificate to the Gateway Pizza Restaurant. Tickets are $1 each. Anyone can purchase tickets. You don’t have to be a senior. We will draw the lucky recipient’s name on Wednesday, July 29th. You don’t have to be present to win; we will notify you by telephone if you’re not.

On Wednesday, July 15, our food Pantry will be open from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. On Thursday, July 16th, we are heading down to Ontario for shopping. There is a sign-up sheet on the front table if you are interested in going. This month’s Foot Clinic is on Monday, July 27th. Appointments are needed; give me a call at (208) 257-3358 to schedule one.

Menu: Wednesday, July 15th: Oven-Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Wheat Roll, Coleslaw, Corn, Mandarin oranges, and Lemon Zucchini Bars. Friday, July 17th: Pizza! Combination, Chicken Alfredo, Vegetarian, Hawaiian, or Meat Lovers. Spinach and Romaine Salad, Mandarin oranges, and dessert. Wednesday, July 22nd: Swedish Meatballs, Rice, Mixed Vegetables, Spinach and Romaine Salad, Peaches, Wheat Roll, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Drink lots of water and stay inside during the hottest part of the day. Take good care of yourselves. And have a relaxing week while you try to stay cool.
