Brad Talbutt was here on Wednesday, October 29, to give a short presentation for Medicare’s open enrollment programs and to have individual appointments. It was quite informative.
I have the opportunity to return to a Medigap program (insurance that covers the 20% that Medicare doesn’t) or switch to a different Advantage program. I’m torn between the two options. One has more services, but the other has a lower total out-of-pocket expense. I guess it really doesn’t matter because insurance companies will get their pound of flesh either way. Whether it’s up front or they nickel-and-dime you to death throughout the process. Insurance companies aren’t in the business of losing money.
I have more to say on the subject, but since this isn’t an opinion column, I will keep the rest of my thoughts to myself.
Thursday, November 6th, is our monthly Bingo game from 6 to 8 pm. All are welcome. Nibbles are provided. Maybe I will see you there.
On Saturday, November 15th, we are having our Souper Supper fundraiser. Homemade soups and breads are featured, and we will also have the drawing for our Split-the-Pot fundraiser that day. The cost is a $10 per person donation, or $5 for kids 12 and under. Tickets for the “Split the Pot” will be available for purchase right up to the time of drawing. I’m anxious to see who will win this time.
This is the month of Thanksgiving, so our schedule will be different from the norm. Since I’m writing from home, I don’t have access to all the changes, but here is what I remember: Our food pantry will be held on Wednesday, November 19, but our monthly shopping trip to Ontario will be on Thursday, November 13th.
Our monthly Foot Clinic will most likely be changed to the Third Monday, or Monday, November 17th. If you have questions, please call 208-257-3358.
Menu: Friday, November 7th: Chili con Carne, Cornbread, Salad, Pears, and Magic Cookies. Wednesday, November 12th: Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Beets, Garden Salad, Peaches, Wheat Roll, and Zucchini Bars. Friday, November 14th: Costco 1/4 pound all-beef hot dog, French Fries, Salad, Peaches, and dessert.
That’s all I have for this week. Until next time, I hope you stay healthy and content. Remember, life is a state of mind; the more you can find to be grateful for, the richer your life will be.
