Tai Chi Starts April 1

March 25, 2026

I’m back from my stay-at-home respite and ready to get back to work. My time away didn’t positively impact my typing, though. Somehow, I deleted about an hour and a half’s worth of work, and now I’m starting over.

This will be a much shortened version of what I wrote before. Since I have a dinner date with my sister at 4:00 p.m., and it’s after 3:00 p.m. now.

We had our very first Pie Sale on Pi Day! It was successful thanks to our volunteers, most of whom were from our Board of Directors. They baked the pies, set up the tables, and sold whole pies as well as individual slices. And they cleaned up afterwards. Many thanks to Dana Munden, Lola Hartnoll, Donna Talbot, Ursula Fortin, Lynda Yoder, Charlie Caruso, and Rex Hall. Yay team!

Sandra Nudo will be starting a Tai Chi class on April 1st. It will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 11:00 a.m. in the exercise area at the back of the center. If you are interested, show up in comfortable clothing that allows you to move and shoes. The class is free.

We are starting a Raffle on April 1st. It’s for a $60 gift certificate to the Country Cabin. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Tickets are available anytime the senior center is open. There is usually someone here between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. each day of the week. It’s when our coffee club meets. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, we have someone here from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Raffle will end on Wednesday, April 29th. The drawing will be held right after lunch that day, and the winner will be notified if they aren’t present.

I have always wanted to offer a Fit and Fall class here at the senior center. My prayers have finally been answered, and two different ladies have both volunteered to lead a class. Both are certified instructors for the class, and I’m meeting with them in the next few weeks to work out a schedule. I’ll let you know the particulars soon.

Our Chair Yoga class has been hit-or-miss for the last 5 months. So I’m going to be canceling that class at the end of March. There were only two of us who had been coming sporadically, and while it’s a wonderful exercise experience, I’m not willing to be in charge of it anymore. Plus, there are now other alternatives available.

Menus for the week: Wednesday, March 25th: Oven, Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Corn, Coleslaw, Pears, and Carrot Cake. Friday, March 27th: Chili con Carne, Corn Bread, Garden Salad, Pears, and Dessert. Wednesday, April 1st: Roast Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Herb Stuffing, Fruit Salad, Wheat Roll, Green Beans, and Lemon Meringue Pie.

Have a great week, everyone!
