Arlene Warfield Wininger Clark

Arlene Warfield Wininger Clark passed into the loving arms of Jesus on July 15, 2025; a few days before her ninety-fifth birthday.

Arlene was the second child of seven children (Lorraine, Danny, Joy, Lyle, Vera and Mary) born to Laverne and Surrelda Linder Warfield. The family lived on a ranch seven miles east of Midvale, Idaho. One of the daily chores expected of Arlene and Danny was to find and bring the cows back to the barn to milk. Many delightful stories have been spun around finding the cows, dodging the bulls or milking the restless beasts. Getting to school each morning meant walking at least two miles one way to Cozy Corner Elementary. Perhaps these hardships explain the closeness that the Warfield children had for each other throughout their lives.

Seventh grade for Arlene brought on a life considerably easier than what was previously experienced. The family moved into the town of Midvale after her parents’ divorce and ranch life was left behind. Arlene thrived in her new environment and made lifelong friends. School was easy and sports were second nature as she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Cheers of “GO RANGERS“ sang in her stories. Mr. Wilson, the school principal and basketball coach, was a pivotal mentor, encouraging Arlene to believe in herself; they continued to stay in contact until his passing.

After high school Arlene started working at the bank in Weiser. She was always good at numbers and enjoyed the people which served her well throughout her career. A lifelong friendship with the Widner and Wininger families brought Bob Wininger and Arlene together. They married in 1951 and had four children Carla, Rob, Rick and Ron. Arlene continued to work in the banking world, off and on, while raising her children. Arlene served as Adams County Treasurer and Tax Collector for 10 years starting in 1969. The Wininger’s divorced but their friendship always remained.

A new chapter began when Arlene agreed to a date with Mr. Louis Clark (Louie) to go fishing at Brownlee which eventually led to their marriage in 1979. They honeymooned at White Licks hunting camp and began their life together in McCall. This marriage proved to be a match made in heaven that changed both their lives for the better. Together they built and operated the Farm to Market Storages until 2015 when they retired.

Both Arlene and Louie had the gift of hospitality that they shared with their family and friends. Food was the hook that reeled you in with wonderful dinners from the recipes that Papa Louie would find. Fellowship and Love is what they fed you. Blessed are the grandchildren who were fed on their laughter, card games and wise advice. Blessed is all who gathered at their table!

Arlene loved her Savior and each morning would rise early to spend time with Jesus. Her love for sharing her faith and loving people led to the well-known women’s ministry called Chit Chat and Chowder a monthly highlight for many women in McCall for years. So many lives were touched and brightened by this ladies’ fellowship. Arlene’s famous saying was “Let’s Be Doing It!” and doing she did!

July 15, 2025 marked the end of a beautiful life here on earth but it is the beginning of eternity with Arlene’s Savior and the best Warfield family reunion ever!

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her husband Louie, her son Rick and her grandson Ryan. Services will be held at the Midvale Church of Christ on September 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m..
