Floyd Delbert Day, born October 8, 1938 in Wyoming to Harold Lloyd Day and Agnes Greenlaw Forbes, passed away on November 20, 2025 in Weiser, Idaho at the age of 87. A true Wyoming cowboy at heart, Floyd grew up under wide-open skies, working hard, living simply, and carrying a blend of grit and charm that stayed with him throughout his life.
Floyd is survived by his younger brothers, Ivan Day (WY) and Roy Day (CO), his sister Verna Worthey (WY) as well as his three children—two daughters, Kristy Day of Arizona, Kimberly Jones of Washington (Jesse, granddaughter Cydney) and his son, Levi Day of Idaho (Jenn). His family will remember him for his humor, his stubborn practicality, his big personality, and the way he could make anyone feel welcome.
After a short stint in the U.S. Army, Floyd built a long and respected career as a division manager in the meat department for corporate Albertsons. Later in life he poured his experience into owning and operating his own butcher shop with his brother Ivan (Double D Custom Meats in New Meadows), a craft he took great pride in. If you had a question about meat, Floyd had an answer—and usually a story to go with it.
If you were lucky enough to know Floyd, you knew his smile could light up a room and that he had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend. He never met a stranger. Kids at the rodeos, neighbors dropping by, friends bringing over a deer or elk to be processed—everyone was welcome at his table. And if you sat long enough, you’d probably end up with a hand of cards, a cold beer, and a story you’d remember forever.
Floyd loved horses, dogs, hunting, fishing, and just being outside where he felt most at home. He was always ready for an adventure, especially if it meant helping someone out or spending time in the places he loved. Simple pleasures he valued most—good people, good conversation, and the steady comfort of being together.
No formal services are planned at this time. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Floyd by sharing a favorite memory, a funny story, or a moment that captures his humor and spirit. Your stories and memories can be sent to Levi Day-1280 W. 8th St.-Weiser, ID 83672 and they will be treasured by those who loved him.
