Helen L. Frasier was born on March 1, 1923 in Montour, Idaho, to Ben and Celia Surber. She passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 102.
Helen was the third of eight children. In the mid-1920s, her family moved to Indian Valley, Idaho. The children grew up helping their parents on the family farm and ranch. Helen attended grade school in Indian Valley and later lived with her aunt and uncle in Boise to attend North Junior High School. She completed her high school education in Weiser, Idaho.
On September 28, 1942, Helen married Hal D. “Buck” Frasier in Payette, Idaho. They made their home on a ranch in Indian Valley, where they raised six children. In 1965, they moved to a farm on Cherry Lane between Nampa and Meridian. Throughout her life, Helen found great joy in gardening, cooking, and caring for her family. She later joined a bowling league and was an active member of the Black Cat Ladies Club.
Helen and Buck shared a love of car racing at Meridian Speedway, horse racing at Les Bois Park, and for many years held season tickets to Boise Hawks baseball games.
Known affectionately to her family as “Granny,” Helen was deeply devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took pride in supporting them in all their activities, from 4-H to concerts and beyond.
Helen is survived by her children Gay Craig; Mike and Dee Frasier; Jay and Terri Frasier; and Jerry and Marnie Frasier; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Flint, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Frasier; daughters JoAnne Stephens and her husband Stanley, and Sherrill Stephens and her husband Jack; son-in-law J.D. Craig; and her siblings Ted Nielson, Bernice Bott, Dorothy Provost, Bub Surber, Marjorie Stillwell, Shirley Flint, and Carol Clarkson.
Service will be held on January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa, Idaho.
