Randy Dee York, 72, of New Plymouth, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2025, at Golden Years Manor in Payette, of natural causes.
Born in Payette to Everett William York and Barbara Lucille Weathers, Randy was raised in New Plymouth with his siblings: Rick York, Mike York, and Cheryl Moore (York). He was a hands-on learner who taught himself to weld, build, and create with both steel and wood.
On May 26, 1973, Randy married the love of his life, Nancy Carol Callahan. Together, they raised three children – Shane York,Sheri Smit (York Herrick), and Lindsay Mitchell (York) – just off the Payette River outside New Plymouth. Randy started his own fabrication business at home, later working as a machinist/fabricator for Ore-Ida, Appleton Produce, and retiring from Simplot in Caldwell.
Randy had a deep love for the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years, he later said, “As much as I loved hunting, I just can’t bear to end the life of these beautiful creatures now that I’m old.” He enjoyed country drives, tinkering in his wood shop, and time spent with Nancy and family.
He is survived by wife, Nancy York; his children, Shane York (wife Kristy), Sheri Smit (husband Eugene), and Lindsay Mitchell (husband Jim); grandchildren, Mason, Kyler, and Hayden Herrick; Jessica (York) Hoskins and Seth York; his brothers, Rick York and Mike York; his sister, Cheryl Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Hilltop Cemetery, Nyssa, Oregon. A public celebration of life will follow at 12:00 noon at Kiwanis Park in Payette, Idaho. South 6th Street Payette, Idaho.
Randy will be remembered for his laugh, joking nature, creativity, and the deep love for his family and the land he called home.
